Shuttle Bus Route Launched at Lost Shore Surf Resort

New All-Electric Shuttle Bus Brings Lost Shore Surf Resort Closer to the City

Lost Shore Surf Resort, Europe’s largest inland surfing destination, is teaming up with Scottish sustainable travel pioneer Ember to launch a new all-electric shuttle bus service from Edinburgh City Centre to the resort, making waves for eco-friendly travel this Autumn.

Launching on 5 November, the Lost Shore x Ember Surf Shuttle will initially offer three return journeys per day, seven days a week, rising to six return trips each day from 26 November, connecting Edinburgh city centre’s George Street, Haymarket, and Corstorphine directly with Lost Shore Surf Resort at Ratho.

The new service will make it easier than ever for visitors, tourists, and staff to travel to the world-class surfing destination, without relying on a car, and in comfort and style aboard Ember’s fleet of executive all-electric coaches.

Each coach features 53 seats, one wheelchair space, and ample luggage capacity for surfboards, making it ideal for surfers, spectators, and city adventurers alike.

Tickets, priced at £2.20 per single journey for adults and £1.10 for children (under 16), can be booked in advance through the Lost Shore website: www.lostshore.com/visit-surf-bus.

Mark Stewart, Estates Director at Lost Shore Surf Resort, said:

“We’re thrilled to launch this new Ember partnership, bringing Lost Shore even closer to Edinburgh and making it easier for everyone to experience the waves, whether they’re local residents, tourists, or staff commuting to work.

“This sustainable service is a natural fit for Lost Shore’s environmental ethos, offering a greener, more accessible way to travel while reducing car dependency. We’re excited to ‘test the waters’ and see even more people experience what’s on offer at the resort.”

With Lost Shore’s festive programme of events on the horizon, from cosy Christmas film nights in the twinkling Event Studio and visits from Mrs Claus for the little ones, to shared Christmas parties, it’s the perfect time to leave the car at home and make your way in comfort and style via the Ember shuttle.

As a private hire shuttle service, all outward journeys will begin in Edinburgh and terminate at Lost Shore, with return trips operating in the opposite direction. Passengers must pre-book their chosen service, as on-the-day boarding will not be available.

Lost Shore is clear that this Ember-operated service is entirely separate from, and complementary to, any potential future public bus routes to Ratho. The resort continues to support the introduction of a permanent council-operated service, which would further improve accessibility for the wider community and visitors. Over 2,100 people responded to a survey with 90% of respondents stating they would be interested in using a bus service if it was available.

While the initial timetable launches on 5 November, an extended schedule will follow on 26 November, with all updates available via Lost Shore’s website and social channels.
